Book of The Month

APRIL 2019 – Dear Lily by Drew Davies

I reviewed this book through NetGalley, and was completely blown away!! It is filled with such heartache, beginnings, and life emotions. When I was reading through Dear Lily, I felt a connection to the character, in a sense of I could relate to how Joy was feeling, why she moved so far away and why she changed her life around. Dear Lily is set out as ‘letters’ to Joy’s younger sister, Lily, where Joy tells Lily about what was going on in her life. These letters are started when Joy gets transferred to the office to another country, Denmark. There, Joy has to learn to make new friends, learn a different language, as well as deal with her personal demons.

DECEMBER 2018 – The Letter by Kathryn Hughes

I came across this book through Goodreads due to the large amount of 4/5* reviews and decided to give it a go, and I was not disappointed! Tina works all the hours she can to cover the cost of living for her and her husband, but is saving to one day leave her abusive husband. On her first night in the bed sit after leaving her husband, Tina pulls out the letter and the book changes into 1939, when Billy meet the love of his life, Chrissie, and you get to discover how they meet and fell in love. For the rest of the book, different chapters related to either what was going on in 1939 with Billy and Chrissie, or 1973 with Tina and her husband. Not long after leaving her husband, Tina finds out she is pregnant and goes back to Rick for the sake of the child, as long as he agreed not to abuse her anymore. After a horrific event, Tina decides she wants to return the letter to whom it is intended for and begins a journey across countries to find the recipient. By the end of the book, I felt all the emotions of the characters and was really impressed (and pleased!) with the outcome!

NOVEMBER 2018 – Accidentally Entangled By VR Baucke

It was a really hard choice this month, on which was a my favourite book! But after a bit of debate, I realised that Accidentally Entangled was my favourite! When I started the book, I was so sure of how the story would go, but when I started working my way through the story, I was absolutely wrong! It was even better than I had thought it would be! Each page, I was sure I knew what was going to happen, but was pleasantly surprised the whole way through. What really captured me, was that the chapters weren’t written in just one perspective; you get to hear the perspective of Jace and Jax, as well as flash backs to previous events. It is also very steamy (adult content) in places which was interesting to read!! I have also completed a review for Accidentally Entangled, which can be viewed on my blog! Can’t wait to read more of VR Baucke’s books!!

OCTOBER 2018 – Firebird by Bambi Sommers

Bambi put forward her book, Firebird, earlier this month and I was absolutely blown away with how great it was!! I was so sucked into Firebird that I read it within a few hours!! When I was reading through each chapter, I felt as though I was sitting in a nearby house, watching what was going on from a window. I have completed a review for Firebird, which is available to view on my blog. I can’t wait to read another of Bambi’s books!

SEPTEMBER 2018 – Tracey Crosswhite Series by Robert Dugoni

I know I said it would be book of the month, but I couldn’t chose my favourite out of the Tracey Crosswhite series! There are six books to the series. These are: My Sister’s Grave, Her Final Breath, In the Clearing, The Trapped, Close to Home and A Steep Price (although they are set in a series, you could read them separately, as detail is provided within the book of the characters).

I started My Sister’s Grave on the first day of my holiday away, and I was well and truly blown away. The stories are so well written, and the plot was mind-blowing! I don’t want to spoil the books, but the ending is not what you think will happen!

To put into perspective how much I loved this series by Robert Dugoni, by day four of my holiday, I had read them all! Absolutely amazing!! I can’t wait to read another one of his books!!
