May Update
For many of us, lock down is starting ease, and we are starting to have the opportunity to see more of our family or friends. I hope you all stay safe and healthy in this time.
This month, I have spent less time on reading books, and have been focusing on researching and taking courses on enhancing my knowledge, so that I can put more into my blog. For instance, I am looking towards starting a Bookstagram and possibly a Youtube Channel that will show subscription box openings, book reviews and challenges.
Reading
This month I decided to push out of my comfort zone and tried an audio book through Audible. When I signed up for the 30 day trail, there were two credits given that can be used to purchase books. With these credits, I got Far From The Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy and The Custom Of The Country by Edith Wharton. If you wished to try Audible for free for 30 days, click here.
So far I have listened to Far From The Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, but at the same time as listening, I followed along with the book. Also, as a side note, I haven’t read this book before.
After each session listening to chapters, I spent the reminder of the day thinking about what had happened within the book. I can easily get submerged into books when reading them, but I found this experience was different – I appreciated the book in a new light that I hadn’t experienced before.
Compared to reading books, it took me over a week to get through this book. In total, it took 14 hours of listening. I found it really enhancing that there was a function where you could chose the speed of the narrator. In my case, with this book, I chose the speed to be 0.85% (it was originally set at 1.0%). I am looking forward to the next book!
